How to set up the WhatsApp Cloud API in 2026

Jul 15, 2026 · 8 min read · Guides

Getting started with the WhatsApp Cloud API can feel overwhelming — Meta Business verification, phone number registration, template approval. This guide walks you through each step so you can send your first message in a single afternoon.

First, create or verify your Meta Business Account. You'll need a registered business with documents Meta can verify. Once verified, add a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) and register your phone number.

With Waboxa, you can connect your verified WABA in one click from the onboarding wizard. We handle the webhook registration and token exchange automatically — no manual curl commands required.

Before sending marketing messages, you'll need approved message templates. Start with utility templates (order confirmations, OTPs) — they're approved fastest. Marketing templates require clear opt-in language and take 24–48 hours.

Once your first template is approved, send a test broadcast to your own number from the Waboxa dashboard. Check delivery status in real time, then scale to your full contact list.
